Block Paving
Block Paving provides a classic look and an extremely hard wearing surface. We have never had a block paved driveway sink and can provide endless addresses of our installations over around 20 years of installing block paving in the South West.
Grab & Tipper Haulage
We have a fleet of our own lorries from a transit tipper, 7.5 ton tipper, 18 ton crane mounted grab tipper lorry, to two 32 ton aggregate and insulated tarmac tipper lorries. This allows us to move materials to and from your installation time and cost effectively.

We dig out all of our own jobs using our own diggers, that we haul around on our own trailers. This allows us to dig out to the correct depths, so you as the customer don't have to find different contractors to do different phases of the work.
Company History
Remys Surfacing and Haulage specialises in the installation of quality built driveways, dropped kerbs, general surfacing and aggregate haulage.
We understand that most people don't know a lot about how a driveway needs to be constructed to achieve reliability and a great looking finish. This is why we love giving as much information about the materials and techniques used to get a good quality installation, which most people really appreciate.
The best way to understand who we are and the type of installation you will receive is to explain where we started and the development leading to what we offer as a service today.
I have been trading as a dropped kerb and surfacing firm since 2014 having worked aloing side my father in his driveway and hard landscaping business. My father had specialised in the installation of residential, high quality block paved driveways and hard landscaping for 16 years before I started marketing his business and working along side him on site. This is when it was becoming very apparent there were a lot of people being either completely let down by dropped kerb and driveway contractors or often receiving completely sub standard work.
Prior to my father specialising in driveways for that period, he was a Jeweller and Silversmith for 23 years, over which time he had been commissioned to make pieces for The Queen, The Queen Mother, Price Charles and President Clinton. He also designed and made Tiffany's 16th best selling item at one stage, making 4000 of the same item with his own hands! His eye for design, shape, attention to detail and the hand skills from 23 years in the jewellery trade carried directly through into his paving installations.
At the time in 2014 when I started this business, there were no other businesses online specialising in dropped kerb installations listed on Google. I contacted the Princes Trust, looking to borrow £4000 to get a transit tipper van and the required accreditation and insurance to be able to install dropped kerbs on the public Highway. I soon decided I needed to get my own grab lorry, to be able to carry a large enough quantity of materials per trip to save time and numbers of trips per job. When I had tried using other haulage firms to transport our materials there were often hold ups and delays in the continuation of flow of materials to and from the jobs. I applied for an Operators License to legally be able to run a lorry, starting with one grab lorry. Over the years I have had a variety of lorry types including various transit tippers, two 6 wheeled grab lorries, two four wheeled grab lorries, an 18 ton tarmac hot box, 7.5 ton tippers, and more recently three 32 ton 8 wheeled tippers.
I learned how to do all the parts of the business from the beginning, including operating diggers to an accurate, safe and quick standard, digging jobs out to a substantial enough depth to allow a solid and reliable sub base, laying tarmac - achieving a perfect shape and finish, laying concrete to a perfect shape and finish and block paving to a high standard, doing all the measuring, quoting and council applications until 11pm every night for quite a few years.
Over this time I was starting to employ people to help with the growing momentum of the business - including my father, who helps on site, measures jobs and generally helps fill any gaps required to help ensure a satisfactory installation and service for our customers.
